OTHER FACTS OR COMMENTS:  On Monday, February 25th, 2013 the body of Lou Schneider was recovered from the Dolores Triangle Area. Local residents had crossed the Dolores River up river from Dewey Bridge and into the Dolores Triangle Area. They discovered a passenger car that was stuck off the side of a dirt road and later the body of a male subject a short distance from that vehicle. Grand County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and investigators went to the site of the discovery. The site was reached by going through the Colorado National Monument and then through the Glade Park area. The vehicle and body were approximately 11.3 miles west of the Colorado State line and in Grand County.

The body was identified as Lou Schneider who had been reported missing on February 23rd, 2013 by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Schneider had been reported last seen at the Golden Corral restaurant in Grand Junction.

It appears that Mr. Schneider’s vehicle had slid off the road at that location and become stuck. Mr. Scneider appears to have collapsed approximately 7 tenths of a mile from the vehicle in an attempt to walk out of the area. Mr. Scneider was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Salt Lake City to determined cause of death.
