NATURE OF INCIDENT: Attempt to recover fossil track from Hell’s Revenge

OTHER FACTS OR COMMENTS: Grand County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Bureau of Land Management Investigators have identified a suspect in the removal of a fossilized dinosaur track. The removal of the dinosaur track occurred on or about February 17, 2014 from the area of the Hell’s Revenge Trail in the Sand Flats Recreation Area of Moab, Utah.
Currently a dive team from the Department of Public Safety is assisting the Grand County Search and Rescue and Sheriff’s Office in searching the area of the Colorado River located at Dewey Bridge on SR 128 where the fossil is believed to have been dumped.
