HOW DID IT HAPPEN:

Grand County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a climbing accident on Castleton Towers on Wednesday the 20th at approximately 3:30 p.m. Grand County Search and Rescue assisted by the National Park Service rescued a 22 year old female climber that had fallen while climbing the Kor-Ingles route on Castleton Towers. The climber had fallen approximately 20 feet impacting the cliff side and injuring her legs, arms and hip area and was unable to move. The climber’s party stayed with her and assisted in communication with rescue personnel, holding belay and supporting the climber until rescue and medical personnel arrived. St. Mary’s Careflight and the Department of Public Safety Helicopter were instrumental in the rescue operation(personnel transport) and transport(St. Mary’s Hospital) of victim.
